    Post  nandu on Tue May 10, 2011 7:58 pm

    Raj has 50 paisa coin, some 1 re coin, some 2 rupee coin, and some 5rupee coin. The value of all the coins is 50. Number of 2 re coins is 5 more than the 5re coin. 50 paisa coins are double the number of 1 re coins. Value of 1 re coin and 50 paisa coin is rs 26, How many 2 re coin are there?

    Let 50 paise coins be X
    2 rupee coins be Y
    1 rupee coin be Z
    5 rupee coin be T

    Given :- 0.5X + 2Y + Z +5T = 50 ---------- (i)

    Y= 5 + T ---------- (ii)

    X= 2Z ----------- (iii)

    0.5X + Z=26 -----(iv)

    therefore, 26+ 2(5+T) + 5T = 50

    26+ 10+ 2T+ 5T =50

    7T= 50-36 =14
    T=2

    Substituting the value of T in equation (ii)
    we get, Y= 5+ 2= 7
